Vanga:The name of a people and their country,the modern Bengal.

It is nowhere mentioned in the four Nikāyas,nor included among the Mahājanapadas.

The mother of Sīhabāhu and Sīhasīvalī was a Vanga princess,the daughter of the Vanga king who had married the daughter of the king of Kalinga (Mhv.vi.1ff.; Dpv.ix.2).

The Milinda (p.359) mentions Vanga as a trading place to be reached by sea.
