|Vanga：The name of a people and their country，the modern Bengal．
It is nowhere mentioned in the four Nikāyas，nor included among the Mahājanapadas．
The mother of Sīhabāhu and Sīhasīvalī was a Vanga princess，the daughter of the Vanga king who had married the daughter of the king of Kalinga （Mhv．vi．1ff．； Dpv．ix．2）．
The Milinda （p．359） mentions Vanga as a trading place to be reached by sea．
